Cons of Breastfeeding without the support you need

One really needs support from your family members when it comes to fully breastfeeding your kid. You can go crazy or even get post natal depression after many sessions of arguing over it. I really had a hard time with my in-laws AND my confinement lady on this. Luckily my own mom supports me aaaalllllll the way even though she did not breastfeed me and my siblings coz she doesn't know how. Thanx Mom, You are the best! I lovs u.......Muak Muak xxx. :)

Before hiring a confinement lady and if you are 100% into breastfeeding with NO cows milk feeding... check with your confinement lady if she are into 100% breastfeeding too. If not, forget it. I regret hiring mine without asking her. Why?? Here's why: She tells every guest of mine including my in-laws that I don't get enough sleep at night because I breastfeed my baby!! Oh yeah, get prepared for this (sleep deprivation) if you are 100% into it. So I fire my confinement lady on day 7th!! and go on doing my confinement without one. Who says you must get enough sleep during your confinement to handle your baby from the 2nd month onwards?? You get sleep deprivation from DAY 1. What a ridiculous idea. Who invented it in the first place??

Then my father-in-law (in short FIL) and mother-in-law (MIL) keeps telling me that the baby needs cow's milk in order to get nutrition. So when you sign up for the breastfeeding talk, bring your MIL and hubby along to Educate them. If not, you will have lots of argument on the topic. Again, I was 100% into it, for the sake of my baby's health. You never know what's in the formula cow's milk nowadays.

Cons of breastfeeding

You better have mental preparation before you are into 100% breastfeeding coz of :

Sleep deprivation
Longer feeding time than bottle fed.
Time-consuming coz breast milk is digest faster.
Can be frustrating.

Keep telling myself that I can do this. This is a challenge for me. FORGET what every other ones that does not support you. But make sure your hubby supports this coz he is your life pillar. I love you honey, your support gives me strength to overcome this :)

Pros of breastfeeding

Well, there are some good sides of breastfeeding.

Believe me, I get to lose weight fast. I pile up 20kg during pregnancy. I can see results even though it is now day 10th..

Uterus and tummy shrinks faster back to normal size.

I get to bond with my baby.

Oh, the best part is my baby gets fed faster. Forget the bottle, hot/warm water and milk powder and testing the water temperature. It just takes more than 10 minutes just to prepare the formula milk..

Honey! I have shrink my baby!

Ooops, but I didn't shrink my baby. Natural effect. Baby YanYan's body fluid has flushed out of her body.
Now she is so tiny.

Day 7

Feeding with a plastic cup.

I have informed the nurses few days before the operation that I will breastfeed my baby.

However, she is a bit yellow, doc fears that she has jaundice from not getting enough of breastmilk. So the nurses feeds her with soya milk formula using a plastic cup, (so that the baby wouldn't confuse with a synthetic nipple), so that her jaundice will go away faster. A good lesson for a first time dad and mom on how to feed using the plastic cup. Especially for determine breastfeed mom like me.

Finally, after much anticipation, she has arrived.
3.2kg, with 52cm in Length.
