Me and my husband and 5 other family members in a tow went for a King Crab Feast in a Japanese Restaurant in Kepong. We have requested the Japanese restaurant owner to book a crab for us from Japan after looking at one of the Japanese travel magazine introducing different types of King Crabs.
My husband received a call yesterday afternoon and we immediately gather another 5 family members to enjoy the sumptuous treat lunch at 2.30pm.
The King Crab was air flown from Japan and arrived yesterday. According to the owner, the crab was caught in Russian waters. The crab weighted a total 2.4kg and boy it was hugh!
We requested the owner to let us take some photos before it goes to "heaven".
It is still fresh and moving. According to the owner again, the crab was put into the fridge to keep it fresh and alive. Once the crab left the fridge, the crab becomes warm and literally paralyzed (slow response)! So it won't bite, haha. Coz they are not supposed to live in warm water. They are only available during the Japanese winter seasons. So you can't have it abundant in Malaysia.... :(
The crab was then made into 4 different type of dishes:
1. Shasimi
2. Shabu-shabu
3. Grilled
4. and Soup
Finally porridge.
The total cost of the crab + cooking and ingredient fees is about RM600++..
Huuuuhhhh, pretty expensive, but add in another few side dishes, the total bill came up to RM750. Wow, but divided by 7 pax is about RM107 per person. Kinda ok and reasonable. When we left the restaurant it was nearly 5.30pm!
Sadly due to the excitement when the dishes arrived, we'd forgot to take the PICS!!! Talking about 7 hungry stomachs................
But the crab dishes are really yummy.... yum.. yum... Can't wait till winter again....
